Bronchitis and More Snow

A week and a half ago (18 March) we took Alex in to the doctor because he'd been coughing for a few days. Turns out it was bronchitis. After a few days of antibiotics and nebulizer treatments (inhaler of some sort) he was back to his normal self.

Spring is apparently suspended this weekend, buried under three to six inches of heavy, wet snow (depending on where in the driveway I measured). We're hoping it melts fast.

Fourteen More From Late February/Early March

Back at home, Alex is learning to stack blocks. He was up to about three at the time of this picture but can now do at least four or five when he wants to. The Little People car set is great -- we can't tell if he likes climbing on it or chewing on the people more.

His favorite walker, aside from whatever's closest, is a laundry basket. Yesterday, I noticed he'd learned to pull it backwards multiple steps to get out of a narrow place! He has more toys than he knows what to do with, and sometimes seems dazed when trying to decide which to pick up next.

He likes the toy piano (2nd pic) but is becoming interested in just about anything that will make noise.

Uncle Michael stopped by two weekends ago on his way to the Twin Cities and built a few things for Alex to knock down.

I can't wait till Alex is old enough to do his [and my! :-P ] laundry....

Back upstairs, we keep his tugboat set (which is plenty of fun even without being in the bath tub) and one of several Elmo toys. And finally, here he is peeking out of a closet.

That's it -- we're finally completely caught up on pictures. Now, to reload the camera and start over!

First Birthday (Part III)

Yes, it took a month to get these pictures uploaded. Finally, time to sit at the computer without Alex on my lap trying to rearrange the pictures! (While he enjoys typing, he never hits the keys that need to be hit, resulting in absolutely nothing being accomplished....)

We spent the morning shopping at Target. When we got back, Alex got to walk around on the sidewalk & driveway out front. It's a nice day, so we're planning a walk to the park after his nap.

Back to his birthday cake: He didn't know what to think of the candles. He studied the cake briefly, reached for it, and promptly flipped it over. He then proceeded to investigate the bits of frosting stuck to the plate but ultimately decided he didn't really like it. Aunt Mindy tried to help him out, and Mommy demonstrated with an imaginary piece of cake, but he just didn't want it! Cheerios, on the other hand, were exactly what he wanted. We gave him a cupcake, but he just picked around it.

He took a walk afterwards (with some help).
